BFA (1983) Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland Oregon. Signature Member of NWWS. Recent exhibits & awards include: 2021, 2023, published artwork in SPLASH Magazine, “The Best of Watercolor”. Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Member show 2022, 2023. WSO Spring 2022, Show 4th place, 2023 Honorable Mention. 2021 Rose Festival Art Show award Best In Show, 2021 WSO Fall Show award 6th place .2019, 2020 NWS Member Shows, 2021 NWWS International Show, 2020, & 2019 NWWS Waterworks Member Shows. Awarded Betsy Pitts Award in NWWS 2019 Member Show.
I own a Pop-Up Gallery in downtown Portland showcasing my art, and the work of local artists. The Robin Becic Gallery opened in February 2021, with the desire to bring retail energy into the downtown business community by showcasing fine art by local artists. We continue to believe in the vitality of Portland and its diverse community members, dedicated to a prosperous future for all its citizens.
Like most creative individuals, I have many curiosities. Currently, I’m exploring water media on Yupo paper, and a batik method using watercolors and wax on rice paper. I dapple in monotype printmaking. Three completely different mediums.
I am enthralled with the never ending effects of color in these genre.   Each of these processes offer me elements of surprise and wonder. I believe this strengthens my artmaking path. I use whatever method necessary, being fluent in my processes, in order to express my world view. Some art mediums begin with a little chaos, others, like printmaking, require a very methodical approach. Working in these three mediums, I enjoy the push and pull of color, light and value in my subject matter. I let go of pictorial logic and local color. In this way, I’ve found freedom in developing my subjects. Over the years, this act of artmaking has become a dialogue between myself and the viewer in this creative journey.
